Travel Vaccinations

The surgery provides the following vaccinations free of charge under the NHS:

All other travel vaccinations are chargeable.

The Cedars Surgery travel clinic is for registered patients only.

If you require any advice or vaccinations prior to foreign travel you are required to submit a Travel Questionnaire for our travel nurse to pre-assess your travel itinerary prior to booking an appointment in our travel clinic, when required.  Please submit your travel questionnaire with at least 6 weeks notice as some vaccines come as a course of two or three vaccinations with weeks between them, and some have to be ordered in especially.  Patients giving less that 6 weeks notice will be directed to a local private travel clinic.  Hard copies of our travel questionnaire can be requested at reception.

If you are a frequent traveler be it for business or pleasure it is important to keep vaccinations updated, and to check whether or not anything new is advised.

If you are traveling home to visit family or friends it is important that you are vaccinated as appropriate.  Any naturally acquired immunity you had will have been lost during time away from your country.  This applies top both diseases and malaria.

If you are planning a last minute trip, don't do the same with your travel clinic appointment as we are unable to accommodate last minute appointment requests.

You may need anti malarial medication some of which has to be issued on a private prescription (see costs below).  You must allow enough time to order and collect the prescription, as well as giving yourself anything up to three weeks prior to departure to commence the medication so you have adequate cover on arrival at your destination.
