On-the-Day Emergency Appointments:

If your condition is too urgent to wait for a routine appointment, the Receptionist will look to find you an emergency appointment that day. You will be asked for the nature of the emergency and be expected to be able to attend the next available appointment. In some circumstances you may be signposted elsewhere, for example; a pharmacist or urgent care centre.

Our Advanced Nurse Practitioner see the majority of our On-the-Day Emergency demand and are supported by our doctors throughout the day.

An ANP is a nurse who has undergone further training to be able to see patients who present at the Surgery and is able to prescribe.  ANPs practice with a high level of clinical autonomy in roles that require them to assess, diagnose, treat and manage the care of people with undifferentiated and/or complex clinical presentations.

The Practice has capacity for ANPs to move patients that they feel are outside their competencies into a doctor's appointment.

Emergency appointments are for one problem only and you may have to wait beyond your booked appointment time as the doctor may be attending to other urgent problems. We would like to remind patients that if you have more than one problem to be dealt with, you may be asked to return for a separate appointment.

The surgery operates a morning emergency clinic with appointments available to book from 08:00 and an afternoon emergency clinic with appointments available to book from 13:30.
